Abha THORAT-SHAH

Abha Thorat-Shah is a member of the British Asian Trust Social Finance committee. She was Executive Director, Social Finance at the British Asian Trust until June 2024, and a founding member of the organisation. 

In this role, Abha leads the Trust’s award-winning work in social finance that catalyses innovative finance approaches to support development challenges in South Asia. 

She brings deep experience in international development and innovative finance to her work and is globally recognised as a leading practitioner and thought leader in the field. 

Abha was a visiting Fellow of Practice at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, is a member of the Asian Impact Leaders Network by AVPN, and serves on the Board of Trustees at the London Stock Exchange Foundation.  

Prior to the British Asian Trust, Abha was the Chief Operating Officer at the UK India Business Council. 

She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Mumbai and a BA Hons in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University.
